5G not come, talking about the Internet of Everything is nonsense

Published Date: 03-27-2015

Since the birth of the concept of the Internet of Things, the word "Internet of Things" has been ubiquitous. Both national policies and capital markets are adding firewood to this emerging industry. People’s expectations for the realization of the Internet of Everything are increasing day by day. The blueprint for the Internet of Everything is in people’s minds It was looming in my mind. But under the current 3G/4G network coverage, can the beautiful vision of the Internet of Everything really be realized? The answer is definitely no.

The biggest obstacle in the field of Internet of Things is that companies do their own things and build different ecosystems. The initiator of this obstacle is not the sensor or battery life, but the connection. It is undeniable that the current 4G is much faster than the previous 2G/3G in terms of connection speed and transmission speed, but it is far from enough to realize the interconnection of everything. Let me give an example from my personal experience.
There is a 100-kilometer hike on the mill in Shenzhen on the 21st and 22nd of this month. I believe many people know that many people have participated, and the author also went. According to statistics, more than 50,000 people participated. The starting point of the activity was Shenzhen Bay Park. The peak gathering period was from 4 to 6 in the afternoon. During this period, telephone calls were basically unavailable and the network was basically paralyzed, which means that the 3G/4G base station was basically Can't bear such a large capacity. This is the case for tens of thousands of smart devices. If it is hundreds of thousands or millions? Of course, 3G/4G is just one of the many communication methods in the Internet of Things, in addition to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Z-wave Wait, but to put it bluntly, these connection technologies are still local area networks. Once they exceed a certain distance, they cannot guarantee the stability of the connection. In addition, even within a local area, their upstream bandwidth cannot carry such a large number of connections. demand. It is precisely because of this status quo that the Internet of Things has not been able to take off, and 5G is not the same. It is wide-area, capable of high-density coverage, and capable of carrying high-capacity requirements. This is why 4G has just begun. 5G is already on the agenda.
The future of the Internet of Things is to realize the interconnection of tens of billions of devices, and to achieve intelligent effects, which requires a connection environment that supports high density, high capacity, high efficiency, and low latency. 3G/4G is not for This design. Take latency as an example. The latency of 3G is 100ms, the latency of 4G is 20-30ms, and the latency of 5G in the future is only 1ms. These three types of latency data may be life and death if they are placed in the field of car networking. difference.
Although 4G has only been commercialized soon, and 5G is still in the conceptual stage, according to industry insiders, the world will begin commercial use of 5G networks by 2020. It is understood that there are three very important technologies in 5G networks. The first technology is multi-antenna, multi-user technology, which aims to increase network coverage by increasing the number of antennas, thereby increasing network capacity. This effect cannot be achieved by using OFDM technology in 4G. The second technology is called Sparse Code Multiple Access technology proposed by Huawei, referred to as SCMA (Sparse Code Multiple Access) in English. It achieves a three-fold increase in spectral efficiency through multiple access in the code domain, which can increase network capacity by 100 times. The third is called millimeter wave technology, which is also the core technology in 5G networks. It raises the frequency to 30GHz-100GHz, and then uses beamforming technology to form high-density and high-capacity coverage on an area. It is currently the most important in this regard. The strongest is Intel, followed by Google, and Qualcomm has fallen behind.
Any high-end and cutting-edge technology cannot be achieved overnight. The span contains excesses. The current 3G/4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Z-wave, etc. can only promote the development of the Internet of Things, but cannot achieve the interconnection of everything. In the big category of the Internet of Things, people need to be connected, people and devices need to be connected, and devices need to be connected. Such a large-scale interconnection cannot be completed under the 3G/4G network. 5G has not arrived, everything about The beautiful vision of the Internet of Everything is just a bubble, and all the slogans that the Internet of Everything can be realized as long as the unified connection standard is nonsense!
